A confocal laser scanning micrograph representing the evolution of structures of a membrane-forming amphiphilic copolymer in contact with water. These amphiphilic copolymers self-assemble into membrane structures that comprise an hydrophobic layer with thickness of 2.4 nm protected by two hydrophilic layers.
