Plot of the reflection of light from a nano-sculpted metal surface, for different incident directions. Colour shows directions in which light is absorbed and the hexagonal symmetry of the nano-sculpted structure is clearly seen. Light is absorbed by 'plasmons' that live on the nano-sculpted surface.
