The new website is divided into three sections; the public access section,
offers an introduction to nanoscale science and
nanotechnology. Please note that access
to the course support section is restricted to students logged onto
either the Leeds or Sheffield University computer networks. Restricted access

What is nanotechnology?
Visit the nano world with a journey in size from a football down to a C60 molecule. Why nanotechnology has become so important over the last decade, and how is it developing to provide the scientific and technical advances of the next decade.
- A journey to the nano-world looks at a range of items from a football (our macro-world) to a bucky-ball (in the nano-world).
- Size is important! How does the chemistry and physics change as we go down in scale from our macro-world?
- Nanotechnology timeline,
where has nanotechnology come from, and where is it going...
- Enabling technologies
- Incremental nanotechnology - rebranding science
- Evolutionary nanotechnology - top down design
- Radical nanotechnology - dreams and nightmares
- Resources, references and more information on many of the topics covered
Social and ethical issues of nanotechnology
- Social and ethical issues of nanotechnology Commentary on the social implications of nanotechnology ranges from the Utopian to the apocalyptic. This module provides a selection of resources presenting both sides of the argument.
Enterprise in nanotechnology
- Enterprise in nanotechnology A module designed with contributions from venture capitalists, real-life nanotechnology start-up companies, business-support government agencies, and technology transfer organisations.
