What is Nanotechnology? - aimed at high school pupils, What is nanotechnology? puts the nano world into context, examines some of the reasons why nanotechnology has become so important, and takes a critical look at the future this technology may offer us. There is a range of interactive resources, plus links to selected sites on the internet for further information.

Animated features introducing some of the ongoing research in nanotechnology at the Universities of Leeds and Sheffield (Nanofolio). Current research highlights include propulsion systems for small particles, organic nano-scale light emitting diodes, electrothermal modelling of integrated circuits and insulating film-based biosensors.

Nanofolio is pleased to support the EPSRC Nanotechnology Image Library, a collection of images and movies illustrating many aspects of nanotechnology. The project is the result of a fusion of the work of visual artist Andy Eccleston with the nanotech expertise of Professor Richard Jones FRS (EPSRC Strategic Advisor for Nanotechnology).

The dangers of nanotechnology have been raised by some commentators, and this topic is covered further in 'Social and ethical issues'.

The White Rose Centre for Enterprise has generously sponsored the establishment of an enterprise theme or 'enterprise layer' throughout the programme. This section has extensive notes and links designed to help people wanting to exploit the opportunities offered by nanotechnology.

An overview of course content is provided in the 'courses' section of this site. Course students can access extensive support material for the courses through the link below.
